IT Luggage: The WTP Review

Real talk: The reason travelers love IT Luggage is it’s crazy affordable. Most of their pieces are less than $100—with some of their best-sellers priced at nearly half that amount. (We’ve spent more at brunch!) Despite being cheap, they’re still rather stylish. The brand's line of ultra-lightweight, soft-side luggage is their calling card, which appeals to the carry-on-only crowd and international travelers watching baggage weight restrictions. Other collections include hard-shell, expandable, and frameless models. Families also give a big thumbs up to their well-priced luggage sets. Just keep your expectations in check; there’s no way a bag priced this low will have the feel or durability of one five times the cost. Still, you’d be hard-pressed to find an attractive bag for such a steal.

Pros

  • Attractive suitcases that are affordable and offer value
  • Known for its ultra-lightweight line; carry-ons weigh under four pounds
  • Most bags are streamlined and modern, and come in eye-catching colors
  • Multiple collections to suit varied needs and tastes

Cons

  • Quality and durability can reflect the ultra-low price
  • Some customers say bags are flimsy and prone to tipping over
  • Not all models have four spinner wheels (a pro for some)

Style Overview

Given its budget price-point, IT Luggage doesn’t skimp on style! Most pieces have a streamlined, modern look and come in punchy colors, and a few have cool two-tone interiors that add a fun-factor to packing. Hard-shell carry-ons in funkier styles—like skulls and cute owls—appeal to the early-20s emoji-loving crowd. This is a brand that embraces individuality and strives to cater to personal tastes while targeting a range of travelers. But the common denominator across the brand’s line are fashion-conscious design and affordability. You can think of IT as the H&M of luggage.

Three Items We’d Buy

1

World's Lightest Los Angeles 2-Wheel 21.5-Inch Carry-On

This carry-on is a triple threat: great style, a low price, and a total weight of only 3.63 pounds. Obviously, it’s one of IT’s most popular bags. Part of the "World's Lightest" collection, this soft-side suitcase has a fiberglass frame and handle, and it's covered in high-tensile nylon fabric. We love the retro two-tone fabric and contrasting black hardware and logo. Even the paperclip-like zippers are eye-catching, with a tiny "IT" in white. The front has two zippered pockets: Up top, you can stash a passport and cell phone; on the bottom, a book or magazine. The bag's wide handle isn't telescopic and doesn't lock into position, but with the poles running alongside the main compartment the suitcase has a flat interior with no bumps to pack around. Other downsides worth mentioning: This suitcase lacks spinner wheels (a deal-breaker for some) and a TSA lock. The inside looks a bit cheap, and some travelers say that the bag doesn't hold up in cargo. If you can overlook these cons, it’s a snazzy bag with an incredible price-point.

  • Exterior dimensions (including wheels and handles): 21.5 x 13.5 x 9 inches
  • Interior dimensions (excluding wheels and handles): 19.1 x 13.4 x 9 inches

IT Luggage 22" World's Lightest 8 Wheel Spinner, Ashes with Vapor Blue Trim
2

World's Lightest 8-Wheel 22-Inch Carry-On Spinner

If spinner wheels are a must, you’ll appreciate this pick, which is another IT fan-favorite. As its name suggests, this carry-on has four double-spinner wheels, plus an upgraded handle that locks into place at multiple heights. The soft-side luggage is also made out of high-tensile nylon, and it has a fiberglass frame. Like our first pick, poles don't run through the main compartment. (Read: more packing space.) Even with all this, it's ultra lightweight at just over four pounds. But what you gain in better features you seem to lose in style, as this isn’t as attractive as other IT bags. The front pockets also aren’t as functional. They zip in an arc rather than straight across, making it easy for its contents to tumble out the sides. And it lacks the protective corners of our first pick, so it’s subject to more wear and tear. On the plus side, the bag's interior is higher quality with a nicer liner and better stitching, plus a roomy mesh section with a zipper.

  • Exterior dimensions (including wheels and handles): 22 x 14 x 9 inches
  • Interior dimensions (excluding wheels and handles): 19.1 x 13.4 x 9 inches
  • Weight: 4.1 lbs.
  • Primary material: Nylon

Quilte 21.5-Inch Lightweight Expandable Carry-On Spinner

While not as lightweight as our other picks, at over six pounds, this carry-on has other upsides that make it a worth a look: It has a standard telescopic handle and a two-inch expandable section at the base—perfect for the overpackers among us. Buyers also give it gold stars for stability and durability. Its sleek design—inside and out—is another selling point. The exterior is wrapped in a high-end quilted nylon reminiscent of ‘90s Kate Spade bags, while the inside is lined in an elegant, two-tone diagonal-stripe pattern. Up front, you’ll find a single pocket that zips straight across, so there’s less of a risk your items will bust out and break on the floor. But best of all, the price is stupid cheap.

  • Exterior dimensions (including wheels and handles): 21.5 x 14 x 8.5 inches + 2 inch expansion
  • Interior dimensions (excluding wheels and handles): 21.5 x 13.8 x 8.5 inches + 2 inch expansion
  • Weight: 6.49 lbs.
  • Primary material: Nylon
